What type of Central Heating System do you need?

Com​bi Boiler

These are the most popular type of boiler in the UK, as they can be extremely economical, only heating the water you need ‘on demand’.

Pro’s:
Unlimited hot water
No cold water tank
No hot water cylinder
Saves Space
Quick to install

Con’s:
Using more than one tap at a time can reduce the flow of hot water.
Not instant hot water

Conventional Boiler

Often referred to as conventional, regular or heat-only boilers. These send hot water to your radiators and a hot water cylinder.

Pro’s:
Use lots of taps at the same time.
You can have an electrical immersion heater back up.
Great for larger homes with multiple bathrooms.

Con’s:
You need space for a hot water cylinder and cold water tank.
You need to program times when you want hot water.
You only have as much hot water as the cylinder can hold.

Syste​m Boiler

System boilers are often known as sealed system boilers. System boilers are typically set up in bigger residential or commercial properties.

Pro’s:
System boilers can provide hot water to several taps all at once.
Use up less space than traditional boilers.
No cold water tank.
Can work with solar water heating systems.

Con’s:
System boilers only heat water ahead of time.
The hot water they produce can run out.
Take up more space than combi boilers.
